The Stag Archive

Terms of use

These are the terms on which this site is offered. They are written plainly, because a page nobody can read protects nobody.

What this site is

The Stag Archive is a free reference about the Triumph Stag, written and maintained by Jon Cosson as an enthusiast. It is strictly non-commercial. There is no advertising, there are no affiliate or referral links, nothing is for sale and no payment is taken from anyone for appearing on it. Everything here is offered in good faith, for the benefit of other owners.

Information only

The content is general information, not professional advice, and not a substitute for the factory Workshop Manual or for a competent person looking at your actual car. Stags differ between Mk1 and Mk2, between home-market and Federal specification, and after fifty years almost every car carries changes made by previous owners. A figure that is right for one car may be wrong for yours.

Before you turn a spanner

Work on a motor vehicle carries real risk of injury, of fire, of damage to the car and of leaving it unsafe on the road. Always verify a torque figure, a clearance, a capacity or a procedure against the Workshop Manual for your own car before relying on it. Where safety-critical work is involved, brakes, steering, suspension, fuel and structural repair among it, use a qualified professional. If you are unsure, stop and ask.

Accuracy and corrections

Every technical figure here is checked against a documented source, and where a figure cannot be verified the page says so rather than guessing. Mistakes still happen. If you find one, please report it through the contact form or by emailing stag@triumphstag.org, saying which page it is on and, if you can, what the correct figure is and where it comes from. Corrections are made promptly and gratefully.

Liability

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss, damage, injury or cost arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your decisions about your own car remain your own.

Copyright

The text, page structure, diagrams and original photographs on this site are the copyright of Jon Cosson unless credited otherwise. You are welcome to read it, print it for your own use, and link to any page. Please do not republish substantial passages elsewhere. Ask instead, since permission for reasonable, credited use is usually given straight away. Images from other sources carry their own credits, and the image policy in the footer explains how those are handled.

Links to other sites

Links to owners' clubs, specialists, suppliers, forums and archives are offered because they may be useful. They are not endorsements, no payment is taken for any of them, and nothing here is affiliated with the businesses named. Other sites are outside this site's control, so their content, accuracy and privacy practices are their own responsibility. Any recommendation based on personal experience says plainly that it is one.

Independence

This is an independent archive. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Triumph, British Leyland or its corporate successors, including BMW and Jaguar Land Rover, nor to any Triumph Stag owners' club or register. Marques, model names and club names are used only to identify the vehicles and organisations discussed. Club membership and register matters should be taken up with the club concerned.

Accounts and submissions

If you create an account or submit a car, an event or a photograph, submit only material that is yours to give, or that you have permission to share. Everything submitted is read before it appears, and anything inaccurate, unlawful or not the submitter's to share may be declined or removed. What is stored, and for how long, is set out in the privacy notice.

Changes and law

These terms may be updated as the site changes, and the version published here is the one that applies. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. See also the cookies notice.
